This session discusses how quality medical care is assured in general and how the usual mechanisms for assuring the quality of medical care through traditional training and oversight mechanisms may be inadequate for PALTC practice.

The discussion describes several levels of intervention that can help assure quality medical care within PALTC settings.

At the conclusion of this program, attendees should be able to:

  1. Consider how quality of medical care is assured in general.
  2. Discuss core competencies and entrustable professional activities.
  3. Evaluate various mechanisms for assessing and promoting quality physician practice.
  4. Identify root causes for lack of consistent high-quality care in NFs.
  5. Envision a path forward for raising the bar for medical practice in PALTC settings.
